Karen is a fluvial geomorphologist with Alluvium Consulting and combines innovation and pragmatism to develop solutions that enable mining ventures to meet regulatory requirements and achieve the best environment outcomes.
Over the last 15 years, Karen has designed and advised on over 100 catchment management and river restoration schemes internationally and has led the mitigation and restoration of watercourses within mining leases in West Africa, East Africa, Papua New Guinea, Wales and Australia.
Karen began her career in the 90’s investigating the fluvial geomorphology of ephemeral river diversions in mining leases of the Bowen Basin in Queensland. After an extended period leading river restoration projects in UK, Karen has returned to Australia and is leading numerous investigations to understand and manage the impacts of mining on waterways in Australia
and overseas.
